Marion C. Manski, RDH, MS
Marion C. Manski, RDH, MS, is an Associate Professor and Director of the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She earned her certificate and associate’s degree in 1983 from The Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists and Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1988. Ms. Manski graduated from the University of Maryland Graduate School (UMB) with a master of science degree in 2004.
As the Director Dental Hygiene, she is responsible for administration, curriculum, academic advising and recruiting prospective students. She teaches junior and senior dental hygiene students both clinically and didactically and also teaches dental students. Active in her profession and community, Ms. Manski has served as President of the Maryland Dental Hygienists’ Association, Legislative Co Chair and has been a Delegate to the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, The American Dental Education Association, and member of the Maryland Dental Action Coalition. She has been actively involved in legislation and has worked with legislators and has testified numerous times on issues regarding dental practice and access to care. Ms. Manski was instrumental in advancing dental care practice by promoting legislation to allow local anesthesia administration by hygienists. She has also served her community as President of Women’s American ORT, and as a member of ORT’s Young Leadership Council. She has worked with the Baltimore Jewish Council, and her children’s PTA.
She has participated as Principal Investigator of the Maryland Oral Health Plan, Co-Investigator of a Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) sponsored Sealant Demonstration Project, DHMH Maryland State Based Oral Disease Prevention Program and has participated in multi-center clinical studies. She is currently the Dental Hygiene Coordinator of the 2015-16 Maryland DHMH Oral Health Survey. She also teaches regionally to nurse practitioner students and professionals and hygienists regarding Early Childhood Caries. Ms. Manski is the Course Coordinator for students and licensed dental hygienists of the Local Anesthesia Certification Course and enjoys local and national recognition regarding these topics. She resides in Baltimore County with her husband and two sons.
