Calvert Family Advocates

What We Do

Calvert Family Advocates provides a way to build charitable support for worthwhile social services programs. Donations to Calvert Family Advocates are used to compliment efforts by the Calvert County Department of Social Services to protect children, families and vulnerable adults from abuse or neglect, help preserve families, and promote stronger, safer and more self-sufficient individuals.

Who We Are

Calvert Family Advocates is administered by the Advisory Board for the Calvert County Department of Social Services. We are a component fund of the MASSB Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity established in 2007 to allow Board members to solicit financial support for programs that benefit individuals and families with unmet needs.

How We Help

Calvert Family Advocates provides financial assistance to prevent homelessness and support at-risk citizens on the road to self-sufficiency. Funds raised are used to support a wide range of programs and services that provide critical resources for individuals and families including: veterans, seniors, unemployed individuals who need job-building skills, and families facing evictions or utility shut-offs. Working in partnership with the Calvert County Public Schools, we provide grants to purchase clothing and support summer enrichment programs for homeless and low-income youth.

The Calvert County Child Advocacy Centersupports victims of child abuse and neglect by providing a child-friendly, safe and neutral location for children and families to undergo forensic interviews and to receive crisis intervention services and medical exams as necessary. Calvert Family Advocates purchased audio-visual, security equipment and furniture necessary to open the center in 2018. Funds raised also support ongoing needs such as snacks, comfort items and toys for the children and families being served.
